Services

Real person, real code

Behind Doryo, that’s me: Matthias. No studio, no chain of account managers — you talk directly to the person who writes your code. I’ve been building frontends since 2005, freelance since 2011, focused on WordPress and Shopify, from solo founders to institutions.

AI-first, for me, means this: I work with Claude Code in the terminal because it makes me faster and more thorough — not to hand off responsibility. Every line goes through my review; every project carries my signature.

WordPress websites

Custom WordPress websites — whether with Elementor, an established theme, or a hand-built block theme. I pick the approach that fits your project: technically clean, fast, search-engine-friendly, and effortless to maintain in the editor.

Shopify development

High-performance Shopify stores and custom theme tweaks in Liquid — from the finishing touches to mandatory features like the right-of-withdrawal button, on-brand and legally compliant.

SEO, GEO & accessibility

So Google, people, and AI understand you alike: semantic HTML, fast Core Web Vitals, and WCAG 2.2 AA — accessibility as the standard, not a retrofit.

Maintenance & further development

Updates, security, new features: I stay on board after launch — on a predictable monthly plan or on call, based on real usage data.

About me

I'm Matthias — on the web since 2005, freelance since 2011

Media informatics graduate, class of 2005. After years at agencies, I went freelance in October 2011 — since then I have built websites and shops as Doryo for brands like Nickelodeon, MTV, and Paramount, for nonprofits, and for founders.

I work out of Berlin and remotely across the German-speaking region. With me, you always talk directly to the person who also writes the code.

What I work with

I work with a fixed set of tools that lets me move fast and reliably — but I keep trying new things and happily swap a proven tool for a better one. Over the years that has added up to hands-on experience with a lot of tools. If your team uses a particular setup, chances are I already know it — and if not, I get up to speed quickly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who builds the Shopify right-of-withdrawal button for me?

Me — usually within a few days. The legally required right-of-withdrawal button is built into your existing Shopify theme in a design-consistent way, so your store never looks like it has a bolt-on.

Do you work with Elementor or other page builders?

Yes. I work with Elementor and other page builders just as much as with hand-built block themes — I pick the tool that fits your project and budget. What matters is that the site stays clean, fast, and maintainable.

What does AI-first actually mean?

I develop with Claude Code in the terminal: it speeds up routine work enormously and frees up time for what takes experience — architecture, accessibility, the details. Review and responsibility stay with me.

Are you only in Berlin?

I work out of Berlin — and remotely for clients across the entire German-speaking region. In-person meetings in Berlin are always possible.

Do you also maintain and develop existing sites?

Yes. Updates, security, and ongoing development — on a predictable monthly plan or on call. Including websites I didn’t build myself, after a short technical review.

What does a WordPress website from a freelancer cost?

Honest answer: it depends on the scope. Send me a short email with your project — within one working day you’ll get an assessment with a concrete budget range, free and with no obligation.

Do you also work for agencies?

Yes, regularly since 2011 — as frontend backup behind the scenes or with direct client contact. References like Nickelodeon, MTV, and Paramount came out of agency collaborations.

Does my website have to be accessible?

For many B2C websites and shops, yes: since 28 June 2025, Germany’s Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG) applies. I audit your site, implement WCAG 2.2 AA, and document the status.
